Sam was President of the Lancaster Bar Association in 2006 and was twice 'Highly Recommended' by the Judiciary Committee of the Lancaster Bar Association for a position on the bench of the Lancaster County Court. Sam is also on the list of Lancaster Bar Association approved mediators/arbitrators for civil cases, in which parties want to try to resolve a matter privately.
As of November 5, 2013 Sam has been serving his four-year term as a Commissioner for Manheim Township.
Sam is also a member of the Lancaster Rotary Club, President of the Grave Concern, Inc. Secretary of the Board of Directors of LancasterHistory.org, and a Board Member of the Open Arms Christian Child Care Center.
