I have been in the legal business for over 20 years. I was drawn to Criminal Law early in my career, gaining valuable experience with the Sacramento Public Defender's Office. In the last 7 years or so of my practice, I have come back to criminal law exclusively.
I have worked successfully as both a prosecutor and a defense lawyer. I know your case from both sides.
I personally handle each client matter that comes into the Bolton Law Office. I keep all client communications confidential. I know it is intimidating and threatening to be charged with a crime. I have the ability to explain the system or the charges and take that bit of anxiety out of your life.
During the last 10 years of my Practice, I have handled virtually all types of crimes. I have clients charged with infractions and simple driving offenses, all types of misdemeanors and dui's, and all felonies or major crimes, including rape, mayhem and the most major of them all, murder. Many of my cases have been brought to completion through jury trial, adding to my depth of experience.
This vast experience allows me to evaluate your case with the knowledge that comes from experience. I have found its almost required to have this kind of experience to obtain the best results for my clients. What I mean is, it gives a lawyer a sense of what juries believe when you have stood before them with a client's life or liberty on the line. You understand what to look for in presenting a case to maximize the appeal to the jury. This in turn allows the lawyer to negotiate with the DA from a position of strength.
Of course, the experience benefit exists no matter what you are charged with. In fact, I believe that the major crimes I have defended against leave me particularly qualified to handle lesser crimes.
You may not decide to hire me to represent you, but make sure you find an experienced lawyer, with whom you can trust your case.
