Mr. Van Ness provides legal representation in federal and state courts as well as specialty and administrative courts. In federal courts his practice focuses on commercial lender liability litigation, where he has been successful in obtaining millions of dollars in recoveries. This practice is multi-jurisdictional in nature, with Mr. Van Ness having appeared in over fourteen federal districts. In state courts he assists individuals with domestic relations matters, criminal defense and commercial business litigation.

Mr. Van Ness is admitted to practice in specialty courts such as the United States Immigration Court, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Court of International Trade. He counsels business clients regarding international business transactions, customs law, duty drawback, and NAFTA compliance.

Mr. Van Ness also represents individuals and businesses before administrative tribunals. He has been assisting agricultural producers and agricultural businesses with United States Department of Agriculture matters for over 27 years.

Mr. Van Ness is a member of the Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Board, the United States District Court Local Rules Advisory Committee, and the Marion County Practice and Procedures Committee. He is licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington.
