Professional Profile:
Eugene Whitton is a criminal defense lawyer, formerly with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's Office.

Mr. Whitton was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Clarion, Mr. Whitton was employed at a residential facility for persons with cognitive disabilities before deciding to move to Florida to work with the Deaf Community as a rehabilitation counselor. Later, while attending the University of Tennessee for his Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling (Deafness), Mr. Whitton became interested in law. Mr. Whitton then attended and graduated, magnum cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University where he received a Juris Doctorate in Law. After law school, Mr. Whitton initially work for the Advocacy Center for Persons with Disability before joining the Public Defenders Office in Miami, Florida.

During his employment at the Public Defender's Office, Mr. Whitton worked in two specialized divisions, the Criminal Jail Division, representing exclusively “jail division” clients who were in custody on criminal misdemeanor matters, and the Domestic Representation Unit, defending individuals charged with domestic violence offenses.
