Christopher Pitts was raised near Seattle, Washington. He attended Vassar College where he received departmental honors with distinction in political science. As an undergraduate, Mr. Pitts also studied at the London School of Economics. After receiving his B.A. from Vassar, Mr. Pitts studied at the Graduate Theological Union in California, where he received an M.A. in Theology. He then went on to the University of California Hastings College of the Law, where he obtained his J.D.
