Firm: Miller Family Law Group
The Miller Family Law Group is a family owned and operated law firm established to provide individuals and families with compassionate, honest, and effective representation in all areas of family law. Dedicated exclusively to the practice of family law, and servicing clients in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, the attorneys at The Miller Family Law Group are highly skilled in the handling of family law matters of varying complexities, including marital dissolutions, annulments, adoptions, high conflict custody cases, international child custody disputes involving application of the Hague Convention, interstate child custody disputes and move-away requests, division of marital property, and domestic violence matters.
At The Miller Family Law Group, we believe that it is our responsibility to provide each client with a specific, clear, and honest assessment of what to expect in their pending case and to, subsequently, maintain open lines of communication in order to preserve the relationship of trust between attorney and client. This type of communication with our clients permits each client to prepare for and cope with the emotional aspects of family law cases, and permits each client to make informed decisions as to matters that, undoubtedly, will have a drastic effect on the client's life, and the lives of their family members. Our compassion, combined with our commitment to our clients, helps to empower them as they begin to rebuild their lives.
The firm believes strongly in advocating for the rights of victims of domestic violence. Prior to founding The Miller Family Law Group, partner Evelina Miller was a Certified Sexual Assault Counselor in Orange County, providing victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with crisis intervention counseling, emergency assistance and accompaniment to courts and to hospitals for forensic examinations. Partner Matthew Miller authored a critique of the California criminal and evidence statutes and the resulting negative impact of those statutes on victims of domestic violence, entitled The Silent Abuser; California's Promotion of Misdemeanor Domestic Violence. This article was subsequently published in the Western State University Law Review, and, since its publication, has been cited as authority in a “friend of the court” brief authored by The Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project, and the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence that was submitted to the United States Supreme Court in the case of Dwayne Giles v. State of California.
