Nineteen years with the Los Angeles County District Attorney--sixteen as a prosecutor. Organized Crime and Narcotics Division, specializing in prison gangs and search and seizure (six years) Special Award from DEA. Senior trial Deputy and supervisor of the Hardcore Gang Division (street gang homicides). Appointed by Governor George Deukmejian to West Orange County Municipal Court (1987) elevated to the Superior Court by Governor Deukmejian in 1989. Three terms on the Appellate Department, once as presiding judge. Three terms executive committee of the court. Strauss Institue, Masters Forum. Last 16 years on the bench as a civil trial judge managing a mixed calendar averaging 485 cases per month with an averqage turnover of 50-60 cases. Law and motion recognition. Leturer on various subjects including demonstrative evidence, voir dire, and Mediation 101. Sworn in by his father the late Judge Raymond Choate who gave him his personal robes which Judge Dennis Choate wore for 21 additional years. (Judge Raymend Choate was a trial judge for 23 years and presided over some of the Manson trials).
