Vial Fotheringham serves as general counsel for hundreds of homeowner and condominium associations across the Northwest and Intermountain West. We represent high-rise condominium homes, residential subdivisions, mixed-use associations, and commercial HOAs. As general counsel we:

â€¢ Collect past-due assessments and fines (without using the association's funds)
â€¢ Enforce governing documents, rules, and regulations
â€¢ Draft resolutions
â€¢ Represent associations in all types of HOA litigation, with special emphasis on construction defects and insurance litigation
â€¢ Review contracts
â€¢ Run all types of association meetings
â€¢ Assist associations through the process of turnover from developer control to owner control
â€¢ Comply with state and federal law, including fair housing issues, etc.
â€¢ Offer legal advice and answers to questions regarding any general HOA matter
Chris currently works out of the Vial Fotheringham Portland office, primarily focusing on construction defect and homeowner/condominium association representation, including other aspects of litigation that may arise in connection with homeowners associations. He also represents individuals in other areas of law, such as adoption proceedings. Chris has appeared in state courts in Oregon, in the Oregon Court of Appeals, and before the Land Use Board of Appeals.
